Operations
The CRRPC Boating Center is open seven days per week throughout the season, which officially runs from May 15th through October 15th. The Boating Center is open on weekends for off-the-water activity during the off-season.
Rowing activity is restricted to morning hours (first light through 10:00 a.m.) of operation during the high summer months, due to motorized boat traffic which develops as the day progresses, causing wave action on the Chicago River which is unsafe for rowing shells. This comports well with the typical rower preference for the opportunity to enjoy the sport before work, or at the start of their day on the weekend.
Paddling members are at all times restricted to the daylight hours of operation (dawn to dusk) due to safety concerns relating to operating a canoe or kayak under the diminished nighttime visibility conditions.
